OUR HISTORY
Sage Building Solutions was launched in March 2010 with the intention of utilizing the green building and building science knowledge of founder Doug Poole’s over 20 years of experience within the building trades. Sage has built strong relationships with the local energy community with its commitment to reducing the energy load of our community.
OUR MISSION
At Sage we are committed to providing the highest quality general contracting services for both residential and commercial buildings within San Juan County. We aim to bring craftsmanship, comfort, health, durability, and efficiency to all the buildings under our care, using the latest in building technology to guide our projects from design to completion. We strive to exceed the expectations of all building codes. Sage prides itself on utilizing and promoting the most up-to-date principals of building science, using our ethic of environmental stewardship to benefit homeowners and the community.
We improve our local built environment with the intention of improving and benefiting our community. With this intention behind all our projects, our interactions with clients is one of respect, guidance, and strong communication.

OUR PEOPLE
Doug Poole: Owner and Manager
Douglas Poole, as owner and president of Sage, brings his 30 plus years of remodel and new construction experience, and LEED AP and BPI Certification to lead the business. Additionally, Doug holds his EPA Refrigerant Handlers Certification and his Mitsubishi Ductless Heat Pump Service Tech Certification, which certifies his ability to install ductless heat pumps. Doug works with OPALCO to provide Home Snapshot Energy Assessments. He is a member of Member Owned Renewable Energy committee and the OPALCO MORE committee, which helps shape the future of renewable energy in San Juan County. Doug has consistently shown his dedication toward promoting efficient and scientifically-founded building practices for our community. He continues to renew his knowledge and expertise through conference attendance, including several Affordable Comfort, Inc., Energy Outwest, Greenbuild, and Journal of Light Construction conferences, and recently led a conference session on home performance business in the rural community. Beyond the technical, Doug will take care of your house and your family, because he cares about the outcome just as much as you do.
Brian Rick: Heating Specialist and Designer
Brian Rick, as lead HVAC installer, brings his extensive ventilation and heating installation experience to the team. Brian is also our design specialist and can provide detailed architectural drawings and 3D modeling to the specifications required for permit submittal.
Remodel and New Construction Crew
With our four-man carpentry crew, each with varied and wide-ranging experience, Sage provides full-service capability for each stage of the building process.
Home Performance Crew
It takes great attitude to work in the types of places that this crew works day in and day out. Sage has an insulation crew that is Weatherization Technician Installer and Blower Door/Pressure Diagnostics certified, and they are adept at providing the highest quality air-sealing, vapor barrier, and insulation.
